Anthony Russell, also known as Gospel rap artist Christian, uses his stage name and music to reflect that he is a true follower of Christ. Born and raised in Greensboro, N.C., Anthony moved to Virginia after enlisting in the Navy. Prior to dedicating his life to God, Anthony gained a name as an incredible rap artist in the Hampton Roads area, performing at several nightclubs and other venues. He was heavily involved in drinking and partying with no signs of his fast lifestyle slowing.
In 2005, after a tragic night of partying ended with Anthony in the hospital fighting for his life, he realized that a major lifestyle change was needed. It was then that he found Jesus Christ. Anthony dove headfirst into a relationship with God and has been a fervent evangelist for Him ever since.
In 2006, Anthony began to use his God-given musical gifts for Christ. Today, he masterfully mixes biblical truth with skillful lyrical wordplay that keeps his listeners amazed.
Christian joined the ministry of Renaissance Movement Music in late 2007 as an artist and producer. He also serves as the company’s chief operations officer. He has performed in multiple shows with fellow ministers Legin and John Doe, to include Virginia’s popular King’s Dominion theme park. He built a name for himself not only as an artist, but as a true man after God’s own heart. Christian’s first E.P., Call Em’ Out, will be available winter 2009.
In 2009, Anthony and his wife, Dania, were ordained as elders in Restoration Life Ministry under Pastor Chris Coleman, the same church where they dedicated their lives to the Lord. Anthony currently lives in Virginia Beach with Dania and their two children, Myja and Kamari.
